Why is certification important? Green Nature Marketing feels it is extremely important when representing a green line that manufacturers we partner with have the proper green credentials relevant to their product category.

There are numerous green certification agencies in the marketplace with different criteria and objectives. Green Nature Marketing favors and supports those that deem to be more widely accepted and applicable.

Green Nature Marketing is proud to represent products that bear the certifications listed below. We feel the following agencies (both governmental and private sector) and the most valid and applicable for our industry.

USDA Organic

The National Organic Program (NOP) develops, implements, and administers national production, handling, and labeling standards for organic agricultural products. The NOP also accredits the certifying agents (foreign and domestic) who inspect organic production and handling operations to certify that they meet USDA standards.

Vegan Certified

The Logo is a registered trademark, similar in nature to the "kosher" mark, for products that do not contain animal products and that have not been tested on animals. The Logo is easily visible to consumers interested in vegan products and helps vegans to shop without constantly consulting ingredient lists; it helps companies recognize a growing vegan market; and it helps bring the word "vegan" – and the lifestyle it represents – into the mainstream.

ASTM D 6400 Certified

American Society of Testing and Materials D 6400 (ASTM) was established to create a benchmark of degradability, biodegradability, and compostability to insure that claims being made by a variety of manufacturers were authentic in the products they were producing.  The ASTM D6400 certification was created under California Law AB2147 and is now considered a necessity to possess in order to produce and market products as degradable, biodegradable, or compostable.

Biodegradable Products Institute (BPI)

The Biodegradable Products Institute is a multi-stakeholder association of key individuals and groups from government, industry and academia, which promotes the use, and recycling of biodegradable polymeric materials (via composting). The BPI is open to any materials and products that demonstrate that they meet the requirements in ASTM D 6400 or D6868, based on testing in a approved laboratory.

California Air Resource Board (CARB)

In 1967 the California legislature established the Air Resource Board (ARB) to attain and maintain healthy air quality and conduct research into the causes of and solutions to air pollution. Since the formation, ARB has worked with the public, business sector, and local governments to protect the public's health, the economy and the state's ecological resources through the most cost-effective reduction of air pollution. Today CARB is the leading air quality certification agency recognized and their air pollution control program is one of the most effective in the world.

Environmental Choice Program

The Ecologo program is the leading 3rd party green certification program recognized today.  Established in 1988 by the Canadian Government the Ecologo program identifies and tests products striving to market their green attributes.  If a product meets or exceeds Ecologo's stringent requirements that product is better enabled to compete in the ever growing green marketplace. To date, Ecologo has certified over 7,000 products from many different manufacturers in a broad spectrum of industries.

GreenSeal

The Green Seal Certification was established in 1989 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization focused on science-based environmental standards that are credible, transparent, and essential in an increasingly educated and competitive marketplace. Hundreds of products and services have now been certified to meet Green Seal standards.
